ISE in Power Generation
Ion-selective electrodes (ISE) are utilized in various applications around power generation. Measuring specific ion concentrations can be an important indicator for purity, performance, and efficiency:
Sodium in boiler feedwater and steam to indicate purity / contamination
Chloride to ensure purity of boiler cleaning solutions, boiler feedwater, and other high purity waters / effluents
Fluoride in nuclear fuel reprocessing
Water hardness, also referred to as total calcium and magnesium, to confirm performance of membrane filtration, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and ion-exchange systems.
Traditional off-site measurements may introduce potential contamination, time loss, and operating errors during sample transfers.  These disadvantages can be eliminated through on-site ISE measurements. AlpHa offers various mechanical insertion assemblies, specialized housing materials, and reference systems for the required specifications. AlpHa's ISE portfolio can target over twenty different ions which are designed for both lab and continuous process environments.
